Endeavour Archers

AdminNews

The Foundation is pleased to announce that it has been able to assist Endeavour Archers in the provision of much needed  Heaters and Bosses.   Endeavour Archers, who’s members are (in their words) ‘a mixed bag of former service personnel suffering from one disability or other who find archery a great escape from our daily mundane routines and it is also a great way of combating our problems with PTSD’ is an Archery Club in Plymouth run by veterans for veterans (originally set up four years ago by members of Help for Heroes veterans in Devonport Royal Naval Dockyard). The clubs journey has not been exactly ‘smooth sailing’ as whilst originally they were able to meet in an unused Royal Navy building, this ceased in early 2019, they were then able to use another building but once again it had to return to Navy use. The club then thought that it was all over and were getting ready to fold and call it a day. but their luck held as Brixham Archers offered them the use of their facilities and, even though this meant a 75 mile trip each session, the members were more than happy to take up this very welcome offer and continue shooting at any cost! Whilst extremely grateful for the helping hand from Brixham Archers the club set out to find somewhere closer to home and after flooding Devon and Cornwall with hundreds of emails were lucky enough to be offered the use of ‘The Sawmill’ (a dated building going back over 100 years) at Pentillie Castle Estate, the owners of which, in the words of Endeavour Archers, ‘could not have been more helpful and understanding’,  and now, after many days of hard work by the members (the building originally stored hundred of pheasant feeders and drinkers along with tons of other stores)’ they have a four lane indoor range that they can call ‘Home’ complete with overhead heaters for the shooting line and new bosses.

Footnote:- Endeavour Archers currently have no funds or resources and any monies needed comes out of their own pockets so would be grateful for any support anyone can give to help them deck out their rest room or any bits of kit that could help them in the future.
